Hip-Hop
Don't know how to hip-hop yet?
Well, this exuberant form of street dancing has been around for years, and it's nothing if not loose. Frankey's hip-hop classes start out with stretches, abdominal exercises and push-ups to prepare the body for further exertions. After stretching we warm up, practicing specific steps to use later in the dance, breaking them into smaller steps and counting them out. Frankey's warm up also has popping & locking drills, which exposes his students to the old school form of hip-hop. Once the class has warmed up and grasped the fundamental movements, we move on to "the combo" - intricate movements to music. All of it builds strength through repetition and gets the cardiovascular system going. And what Frankey brings to the table is that he builds his students' confidence by creating a totally positive atmosphere.
AllegraXplosion Company
Frankey and 'allegraXplosion' are a performance troupe comprised of young hip-hop dancers from ages 8 and up. The objective of this company is to develop, enhance and expose young dancers to other styles of hip-hop dance and performance. This ensemble will perform dance theatre works covering social messages for all audiences with various dance styles including hip-hop, reggae, latin and popping & locking. The company (along with urbanXplosion) was formed to train young dancers in not only developing and enhancing their present skills, but also to increase their dance vocabulary. Therefore, technique will be emphasized as well as stage performance skills. We will achieve this through commitment, discipline and determination. Dancers will be equipped while clearly and confidently exhibiting their flava on stage. The basic idea is to prepare young dancers for the professional world of show business and to build a nucleus of dancers who will perform choreographed works. The end result of the choreographed works will be hip-hop theatre, i.e. street movements including concepts and statements representing the voice of young people in today's world of dance.
