Kristin Leggio
tap and jazz
Ms. Leggio has been dancing since age three. She began her training in 1975 at the DiRocco School of Dance, studying ballet, tap and jazz. At age 7 she began an intensive training program with the Ballet Theatre of Westchester, where she became a principal dancer for the BTW Performance Company in 1988, performing leading roles in Giselle, Nutcracker, Copeillia, Stars and Stripes, Don Quixote and Les Sylphides. Throughout her study at BTW, Ms Leggio attended various auditions and classes in New York City. At age 11, she was accepted to the Jeoffrey School of Ballet. Until age 17, she attended classes frequently at Jeoffrey, Broadway Dance Center, Steps on Broadway and Alvin Ailey. She had the good fortune to study ballet, tap and jazz/hip hop under such dance Masters as Gus Giordano, Frank Hatchett, Madame Dervash, Madame Cherise, Don Farnsworth, Claire Kelley and Wesley Lawrence. She continues to attend classes in NYC as often a possible.
Ms. Leggio has been a dance instructor and choreographer since 1987. She has taught students of all ages at various dance schools in Westchester, Putnam, Fairfield and Litchfield Counties for over 17 years. She has choreographed pieces for numerous performing groups including The Woodbury Ballet Company, STEPS School for the Arts, Main Street Ballet, Ballet Theater of Westchester and The Dance Shop. Her award-winning choreography and her versatility and teaching style has earned her a solid reputation and many accolades over the years.
Ms. Leggio holds a BS in Business Administration/Marketing from the College of Saint Rose in Albany, NY where she graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1994.
