Modern
Modern Dance is a form of contemporary theatrical and concert dance which employs true and definitive techniques. This form of dance, as pioneered by the late Martha Graham, was developed as an alternative to the rigidity of the Classic Ballet . Modern Dance uses the entire body in expressive movements and uses abstract ideas, therefore encouraging creativity and diversity of movement.
Our instructors incorporate modern dance in their classes All of our instructors are schooled in both Ballet and Modern Dance. Our Dance Companies incorporate Modern Dance in their repetory .Classes in Modern Dance are offered by request at Allegra. The adult Modern Class is taught by Jonathan Phelps and Carrie Huppunen. Modern Dance is a stunning and thought provoking concert dance style and the more advanced Companies at Allegra perform Modern Dance Choreographies in their concerts. Our Jazz companies are modern-based in additon to incorporating ballet fundamentals.
