Frankey Rodriguez
hip hop
Frankey brings his unique and electric style Hip Hop to Allegra. Students interested in performing in one of his two new companies, Allegra Explosion and Allegra Explosion Junior company now have the opportunity to perform all year round and in a street style performing company.
Frankey Rodriguez was born in Brooklyn, New York and has been performing since the age of eight. Coming from a very musical family, Frankey was bound to have a career performing. Absorbing as much as he could, Frankey spent years working on his craft. Taking everything from Ballet to Jazz to Tap to African and Reggae throughout New York, New Jersey, Chicago, and Atlanta. His dance mother Robin Dunn also had him taking acting and singing lessons, enforcing him to become a well-rounded performer. This helped to create his electic, unique style of Hip-Hop dance and performance.
Frankey spent 1995-98 touring with V2 recording artist Billy Crawford opening for such performers like Brandy, Queen Latifah, N'Sync and Five. He has also worked with such popular recording artists as Chaka Khan, Busta Rhymes, Brandy, Ashanti, Truth Hurts, Tina Ann, The Braxtons (featuring Jay-Z), 702, Missy Elliott, TLC, Christina Milian, Nicole, Billy Lawrence (with MC Lyte), Chico DeBarge, Willa Ford, O-Town and the late Aaliyah. He has also performed and choreographed events for NIKE, Paramount Pictures, the WCBA and WNBA games in New York's Madison Square Garden, FX Television and Telemundo Television. But, Frankey's real passion is teaching. He has taught at Broadway Dance Center, New Dance Group Arts Center, Manhattan Motion, New York Sports Clubs, Bally's and countless company classes for Culture Shock Dance Troupe in New York, Atlanta, Chicago, San Diego LA and Canada. Frankey was also a choreographer, teacher, performer and music director for Culture Shock New York. Performing at such events as Arthur Ashe Kids Day (opening for Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears, Hanson and B2K).
